Over the last several months, I've been slowly building from 80% a 5.56 pistol. The best jig on the market is the one from 80%Arms called - "The Easy Jig".
The EJ uses a router and can pretty much guarantee a successful cut with a FC pocket that looks like a CNC did it. I got the Universal version because I didn't want to use their lower (needed ambi). The instructions and Youtube video make it so easy. It is all done with feel vs eye when routing. Go slow and don't try to rush and you'll get a perfect lower. A drill press makes it easier and I would recommend that. Again, a link to the 80%Arms jig is here: 80% Arms Universal Easy Jig.
I wanted this build to have an ambi bolt release and the only 80% that had this was from Quentin Defense. Their billets are really nice and over the years, I've built at least 4 of their lowers. You can get one here: Quentin Laser - 80% Ambi Billet Lower.
Engraved with the Autobot logo, and custom hand drawn FC markings, it was a cool lower. Paired with a Centurion Arms CMR rail, it looks awesome IMHO. Anodization is done by US Andodizing, the best in the business with true Type III. You can contact Victor there and he's very honest and turns around as quickly as he can. US Anodizing.
The Veridian light also has a green laser good to 100 yrds+. Need to take this blaster to PewPew during the break and hopefully before 2015 hits. Nice little Santa package.
A breakdown of everything:
- QD Ambi 80% billet lower
- Aero Precision upper
- Aimpoint Comp M3 2MOA
- ARMS 71 MBUS
- Standard US Mil trigger group
- Battle Arms Development - Ambi FC Controls
- SPIKES buffer - Standard Carbine
- KNS SPIKES Anti Rotation Pins
- Thordsen Pistol Cover - Enhanced
- Law Tactical Gen 3 Folder
- Rainier Arms Raptor charging handle
- Mapgul Pmag - The best mag ever.
- FerFrans Muzzle Brake + Blast deflector
- CMMG 12.5" 5.56 Nitride Barrel
- Centurion Arms CMR 11"
- Standard Phosphate Bolt Carrier - MPI/Blah..Blah..Blah...
The next thing this build will get is an Aimpoint T2 or a Trijicon SRS with the quick release mount.
Now, the evil brother is done.
